MOPTI - BAMAKO /
KOULIKORO 6 DAYS / 5 NIGHTS
After an early breakfast you embark the pinasse and the next few days you can enjoy a very beautiful part of the river Niger or “le fleuve” as we call it.
A lot is happening on the water: pirogues come and go, often fully loaded with merchandise, motors etc.; fishermen are casting their nets and along the riverbanks, women are doing the dishes and the laundry, while children are splashing to their hearts content.
In the trees and the shrubs you’ll see numerous birds like
king fishers, herons, weaver birds, finches etc.
We will stop regularly in
small villages like Ouro Modi, Koa, Diafarabe, Ké-Macina and Kouakouro
; you can meet the people, who live there and get to
know about the culture. You see the mud brick houses, the beautiful little
mosques of banco.
Just a few miles before
Segou we will see and visit the dam of Markala and after that we have arrived at
Segou.
After a visit of Segou we
leave again early the next morning; you can see that in bushes on the banks are
birds such as waders, storks and aquatic birds. The river can be 500 meters
wide, but on the shores you still can see the baobabs, the mango trees and the
vegetable gardens.
We will visit villages like Farako, Tamani and Kenenkou. You will see women, who
sell grilled meat, fried bananas or tea.
And in the afternoon of the 6th day we arrive at Koulikoro, about 60 kms. from
Bamako. By 4x4 we will transport you to a hotel of your choice.
A long journey, but with a load of impressions
The 2 nights will be spend in tents on the riverbanks and during this trip all meals are included and they will be prepared by the cook. We have picnic-luncheons and dinners on the shores by lamplight.
Stay at the hotel is not
included.
