MOPTI – LAC DÉBO
2 DAYS / 1 NIGHT
Two days to discover the beauty of the Lac Débo and its surroundings; the lake is the most important one in Mali.
We leave Mopti at sunrise, first we set sail to Kona and after that we enter the canal branches, which lead to the lake. we will arrive there around midday.
The lake measures about 35 x 45 kms. ,so we have plenty of space to sail to more remote places, to visit the villages there and get to know a bit of the daily life. We stop at some Bozo villages, like Togonrogo, Kotaka, Sendégue and Aka, where you can meet the inhabitants, roam the sunny streets and visit a local market. Do not be surprised if there is a small welcoming committee of children, when we moor.
We also visit Youvarou and if you like ,the terracotta pottery there.
And another beautiful and appealing thing about Lac Débo is the bird life – numerous birds live there or hibernate in this area; species of waterbirds, migrating birds, birds of prey like: cormorants, herons, egrets, flycatchers, rollers, plovers, weaverbirds, mali finches etc.
You even may see a hippo.
The Lake is a Unesco protected area.
The night will be spent in a tent on the
shore ; the meals are included and will be prepared by the cook.
