KE-MACINA

Ké-Macina is a nice, small rural town, where you can see many colonial houses. It is very accessible by boat and there is a lot of activity on the river. You can have a stroll through the town with its streets, bordered with trees and experience the daily life.

There are shops, small restaurants and recently they built schools, stores, a bank and a hospital.

In the area are numerous irrigation channels to ensure the ricefields and the vegetable gardens of water.

Ké-Macina is about halfway between Ségou and Djenné ; from Ségou a part of the road is tarred and the rest is piste. You have to take the ferry to cross the river.

The landscape at the piste is a very dry sahelian area, but you still will find many adoring little villages, with each its own mosque and friendly people.
