KOULIKORO

Koulikoro is situated 50 kms. north of Bamako. It is the starting point and the terminal of the big ferryboats; they leave once a week for their trip upstream the Niger; this is only possible if the water level is high enough. (between September and November).

But also the cruises by pinasse can start or end here.

Here also live the famous masons  – the specialists of the mud (= banco) constructions. (banco is a mixture of sand, chopped straw and manure).

And one of the most striking little buildings is the church; one of the few in Mali
